What does the Pilot Composting Program look like?
This past fall, the program we proposed was approved by the Sustainable Campus Program (SCP) and the Student Advisory Committee to the Auraria Board (SACAB). The Pilot Program is a one-year contract with Waste Farmers, a compost service provider.
We hope that the program grows into a successful permanent fixture on Auraria Campus!

Here's How it Works
- Bins are located in the Tivoli Food Court, by Pete's Arena, the Cimmaron Cafe and by the northeast bathrooms. Throw your compostable materials into receptacles, which are lined with compostable bags.
- The bags are taken out by the dedicated and hard-working AHEC staff.
- Waste farmers picks the bags up multiple times a week and brings the materials to their state of the art proccessing facility. In several months, what was once our campus's food and paper waste, has transformed into 'black gold' - a nutrient-rich soil-like material called COMPOST!
